Saving the last streamliner

Streamliners Australia began as a conversation, a simple idea that evolved into a singular concept – an initiative relentlessly pursued by group founder Bernie Baker and his friends and colleagues to gather together as many of Australia’s classic streamlined locomotives as possible and build around them the ultimate rail fan event. In 2016 Bernie and his team realised that dream ... but once you realise a dream, what do you do next?

Challenge: The acquisition of CLP10 (formerly CL17) via GoGetFunding campaign and restore to operation. 

Okay but why?

Because CL17 was the last of the iconic EMD streamlined locomotives built anywhere in the world and was at risk of being exported for scrap, and no other examples of the famous CL Class existed yet in preservation.
