Fifty years ago on 16 June 1972, the final CL Class was delivered to the Commonwealth Railways. Today, it is the 'Railfans of the World Locomotive'.

Thanks to all who have supported the project to return CL17. Please help us complete the restoration of this classic piece of history. Your support and contributions will enable us to get CL17 up and running sooner.

Who are we

Streamliners is a not-for-profit group whose core purpose is to promote and preserve Australia's historic streamliner locomotives. In doing so we work to support other charities through our events and community work.

Read more about our mission.

What we've done

We formed during the late 2000s with the purpose of organising the Australian Streamliners event, which finally came together at Goulburn, NSW, during the October Long Weekend of 2016. Since then we've acquired CLP10 - which was the last EMD built streamliner constructed anywhere in the world - and are now restoring it to mainline operation.

What we plan to do

We are working to build a collection of historic streamlined locomotives, support the display and operation of these beautiful machines, and channel our skills and energies into meaningful and creative work in support of history and community.
