Next CL17 working session

CL17 nearing completion - help us get it there

Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls. Yes you guessed it, our next working bee is Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July. We are getting closer to the finish line folks, so come down, across, or over and be a part of it. Bring your paint brushes and bring your grinders. Does anyone have a plasma cutter we could borrow? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated so please drop us a line here or on our Facebook site. See you at Coota!

STREAMLINERS 2022

Following the success of our 2016 event, this October Long Weekend Streamliners Australia will be doing it all again when we bring together an amazing assortment of Australia’s wonderful streamliner locomotives.

There will be staged photographic events including crews in period costume, special lighting and fog machines for evening sessions and a fireworks display on the Saturday night. Of course the star of the show will be our own 1972-built, former Commonwealth Railways’ CL17 – the last Electro-Motive streamliner built anywhere in the world.

Tickets will be available at the gate on the day, for each day (no weekend tickets) with prices as follows:

  • Adults $20
  • Seniors $15
  • Kids (up to 18 years of age) $10
  • Family (two adults/two kids) $50

Food and refreshment providers will be on-site while raffles and auctions will be held to support or charity partner, Limbs 4 Kids. Keep an eye on this events page and Facebook posts for more forthcoming information.

PAST Events

The Central West Streamliner
On Saturday 27 July 2019 we operated our first mainline tour to help raise funds towards the restoration of CL17. Southern Shorthaul Railroad's 1952-built streamliner B61 led the train from Sydney to Lithgow supported by the Lachlan Valley Railways' locomotive 4716. At Lithgow 4716 was replaced by GM10 - of similar vintage to B61 and also owned by Southern Shorthaul - and the train continued on to Bathurst where most passengers then headed into the town for lunch. The train then headed on to Georges Plains as a special shuttle for locals before returning to Bathurst and continuing on to Sydney.
